5 Steps to The Best Future YOU
There are five things that you can do to create the best future you possible and to truly become the author of your own life. Each one is incredibly powerful on its own, but when you can do them all together, you’ll set yourself up for a thoroughly fulfilling future.
1. Get to know yourself as well as you possibly can.
It’s an idea that’s been talked about for centuries, from Socrates, who insisted that “The unexamined life is not worth living,” to Aristotle, who wrote, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom,” to “To thine own self be true” from Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The importance of knowing yourself is evident, and fortunately, there are lots of ways to increase your own self-awareness (including our oneTRUEzone Career Empowerment Academy!).
2. Identify your own core gift.
This is the way you naturally contribute to the world. It’s what you feel compelled to do, it’s how your brain works, and it’s something you’ve been doing your whole life. Knowing what your gift is helps you understand when you’re in your zone, which can help you from everything to choosing the right career path to finding fulfillment in everything you do.
3. Make a list of everything that you want to include in your life.
Envision your best life, fully of all the things you like and free of the things you don’t. How can you get there? Start paying attention to what you like and what you don’t like, what energizes you and what feels like a chore. This can be everything from the classes you’re taking to topics of discussion to people you want to have as part of your inner circle. Surround yourself with as many positive people, experiences, and things to get to your ideal future.
4. Get clear on your top three goals for yourself.
Look ahead a year or two, and figure out the three big things you want to accomplish. Once you do, decide which one you want to make the most headway with in the near term, then make absolutely sure that you do two small things toward this goal every day. These can be small things, like a text, a phone call, reading an article, watching a video, or jotting down a few notes. In a year, you’ll have done 730 things toward the goal. If you haven’t completed what you were hoping to complete after those 730 things, I promise you will have at least made significant progress.
5. Show gratitude each day.
This is a great step to create more happiness in your life. Every day, write down three things you’re grateful for and why. Very quickly, you’ll see a shift toward a greater future and a shift toward a happier you!
